All lighting requires maintenance on a regular basis to prevent failure or damage as well as maintaining lighting levels. Key Maintenance Focus:

1. Electrical:
Your facility must prove that it is compliant to O.H.&S as well Public indemnity; this is mandatory on a 5 year basis, although we recommend a 3 yearly interval. We will change lamps, capacitors etc these will be removed from site and disposed of as per the hazardous waste regulations 2005. We will then replace them with only quality lamps, using branded lamps means they have a better lamp life and a lamp replacement cycle can be calculated dependant on usage.

2. Lighting Levels:
Sports lighting levels are designed to achieve a maintained level of light below which it should not fall. This level can only be achieved by carrying out regular cleaning of the floodlight glass as well as the periodic replacement of aged lamps. We will change lamps, ignitors etc these will be removed from site and disposed of as per the hazardous waste regulations 2005.

Sports lighting published by The Society of Light & Lighting indicates that between 10% and 17% of the light output of the floodlight is lost through dirt depreciation over a 3 year period without cleaning, dependent on the site location. Locations are categorised as low, medium and high pollution. These figures are based on IP65 protection floodlights. Lower rated floodlights (mostly older models with IP54 protection) lose between 12% and 24% over the same period.
Your facility's lighting levels could be boosted just by having the front glasses cleaned regularly!

3. Mechanical:
Sports lighting masts or poles, be they fixed or hinged, are required by most council to have a maintenance and inspection regime which ensures your masts or poles remain safe. This maintenance regime involves the inspection of foundation bolts, hinge mechanisms, security of floodlight brackets, and a range of other checks.
